Story
Sir Richard Mead died at his home in Bloomsbury, aged 80. He is best know for his work on transmissable diseases, but also for setting up The Foundling hospital on Bruswick Square gardens for abandoned children. He was the royal physician to George II and his London home where he died, is now part of today's Great Ormond St hospital.
