Story
On Tuesday 30th January 1649, Charles I, King of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland was beheaded in front of the Banquetting Hall in Whitehall, London. His death brought an end to the Monarchy in the United Kingdom, and the beginning of the Republic for the next 11 years.
