Dutch Historical Medallions

The Dutch came to prominence in medal production during the 17th century when they were linked to Britain through the Stuart monarchy. John Roettier was born in Antwerp but came to Britain during the restoration and became chief engraver at the Royal Mint producing many exquisite medals. Other Dutch medallists include Abeele, Boskam and Muller.
