British Historical Medallions
The first British medallions were made during the mid 15th century at the Mint, situated near the Tower of London. The process was improved during the 17th century when machinery enabled larger medals to be produced with a greater level of detail. Many engravers came to Britain to work for the Royal Mint (as it came to be known) where they produced medals for the sovereign of that time. The majority of my collection is British and it follows Royal and political events over the last four centuries.
